During the public comment period, Mike Folkes spoke on behalf of four posts associated with the Veterans Center in Saint Charles to invite residents to Memorial Day events on Monday, May 25.
Folkes detailed the schedule: a 6:00 a.m. flag‑raising at the Baker Community Center followed by cemetery ceremonies (including a 21‑gun volley), a 7:30 a.m. Veterans Community Breakfast at Baker Memorial Church, and a 10:00 a.m. parade that will step off from 6th and Main Streets. He said the parade has historically included local Boy Scout and band participation, military vehicles carrying veterans, and community organizations, and encouraged residents to bring American flags and march.
Folkes thanked council members, city staff, the fire and police departments, and local schools that helped publicize the event. He said a flyer was available at the council table and noted that School District 303 will share the information with elementary school families.
