La Crosse council approves a slate of contracts including Ferry Street and library switchgear

Notable approvals included a $1,118,900.58 contract to Zenith Tech Inc. for the Bridal rehabilitation project and multiple utility and street contracts: Gehrke Excavating ($659,688) for the 16th & Farnham Street utilities, Gerke/Gehrke (reported separately) for the raised intersection on 16th Street South ($520,310.05), and two Winona Mechanical contracts covering a Veterans Park water meter station ($448,495) and Grama Creek Road lift station improvements ($1,049,113). All of these motions passed by voice vote.
A1 Excavating LLC was awarded a $1,728,730 contract for the Ferry Street corridors 11th–15th project; Director Gallagher explained the phase is funded by a mix of TID 11 increment funds and utility funds and a follow-up meeting with property owners is scheduled; that motion passed 12–1. The council also approved a $252,934 contract to BNB Electric for La Crosse Public Library switchgear replacement, a $533,165 award to Macab Construction for the Train Park pickleball expansion, and a $173,765 award to Fowler and Hammer Inc. for sewer-utility sidewalk replacement work.
Other budget and CIP items were adopted, including a 2027 capital equipment budget and several reallocations of unspent capital funds to water and sanitary sewer needs. The council approved appointments to boards and commissions and adopted the consent agenda before adjourning.
