Board appoints Hamid Tabasian as interim Flagler County representative to FGUA

The Flagler County Board of County Commissioners voted on May 18 to appoint Hamid Tabasian as the county’s interim representative on the Florida Governmental Unit Authority (FGUA) board.
The seat became vacant after the former county administrator left. Commissioners discussed options — leaving the seat empty until a permanent administrator is hired versus naming an interim designee from county staff. Several board members said the prior county administrator’s presence on FGUA had been helpful in getting customer‑service issues addressed for constituents.
After discussion and staff comment that the appointment does not have to be the administrator, the board moved, seconded and approved the interim appointment of Hamid Tabasian (engineering), with no public opposition recorded at the meeting.
Commissioners said the appointment is intended as a temporary, working representation so Flagler County does not lose a seat while the county administrator role remains vacant.
