Berkeley School District 87 finance staff presented a tentative amended budget for fiscal year 2026 and requested the board set Aug. 22 for the public hearing on the budget.
The finance presenter described modest revenue changes and reallocations, noting interest revenue increases and a reported net revenue difference of approximately $112,000 after adjustments. He said the education fund showed a net change of roughly $280,006.77 in reallocations but that overall expenditures would not necessarily increase.
The presenter warned of a cash-flow risk tied to property-tax distributions: "Cook County had notified us that the highest distribution of taxes may be delayed just like this year's was delayed…so we will probably not get revenue until December again, which we will probably have to go ahead and do another loan before working cash to best service to pay our debts." He recommended setting the tentative budget and authorizing the required public-notice steps.
The board moved to approve the tentative amended budget for FY26 and authorize publication of notice for the public hearing on Aug. 22. Trustees voted on the motion and recorded affirmative roll-call results.
District staff said they would post the tentative budget for public inspection and proceed with the statutory notice and hearing timeline.
