The Streator City Council approved two budgeted items on its agenda: a replacement community service vehicle and new rugged laptop computers for the police department.
Resolution 2025‑03 authorized purchasing a used 2025 Ford Bronco Sport as a replacement community service vehicle, described by staff as a budgeted item (original budget $30,000) and expected to be purchased at roughly $25,000. Staff said the vehicle is used for community outreach, errands such as transporting paperwork to Ottawa, unlocking vehicles and leading parades and the Christmas tree lighting. The council moved, seconded and approved the resolution on a roll‑call vote.
Council also approved Resolution 2026‑04 to buy 11 rugged Getac‑style laptops and nine docking stations for the police department to replace obsolete Panasonic machines that can no longer be upgraded. Staff said the purchases were budgeted and necessary because operating‑system support for the older devices had ended; the replacement units are expected to last four to five years.
Both items were described as budgeted replacements. The clerk recorded roll‑call approvals for each motion.
