Gatesville ISD trustees approve Ideal Impact energy-savings agreement and PPA after presentation

Representatives of Ideal Impact presented an energy-savings audit and proposal to the Gatesville ISD board and trustees approved both a service agreement and a lease/purchase purchasing plan to implement HVAC and controls optimizations.
Wes McDaniel, founder of Ideal Impact, described the company’s work in Texas schools and churches and outlined a proposal that focuses on control upgrades (Pelican controllers), humidity reduction, zoning corrections and documentation of equipment to reduce demand charges and extend equipment life. McDaniel said the firm funds installation so districts have no up-front cost and pay from a share of realized savings under an 80/20 purchasing plan.
Board members asked about classroom comfort, thermostat access and timing. McDaniel said teachers will retain local control within set ranges and that Pelican controllers include an LCD readout; he said his team guarantees parts support and leaves spares. Trustees asked technology staff about campus walkthroughs; staff said meetings and on-site reviews have already occurred.
Trustees moved, seconded and approved both a service agreement to begin work and a lease/purchase (PPA) financing option to fund the project. Staff said an expected rebate (approximately $200,000) and projected annual savings could reduce payback time and that the district would begin payments only after verified savings under the contract terms.
Next steps: staff will execute the service contract, begin project planning with Ideal Impact and return to the board with scheduling and verified savings metrics during implementation.
