Akron City Council moved through a consent agenda and a slate of ordinances and resolutions during the meeting. Key outcomes:
- Consent agenda: approved unanimously (13–0).
- Old business: Waste Management development/community benefits/service agreement ordinance passed 12–1 (see separate coverage).
- New legislation (on the consent/new legislation docket): multiple items were placed on the consent agenda and passed, including: authorization to contract with Crane, Langer & Company for risk and insurance management services; appointment of Victoria Farris and Scott Hardway to the Human Resources Commission (each ratified, 13–0); an ordinance to create 10 HOME-ARP affordable housing units for veterans with Access Family Solutions; equipment leases and purchases (street sweepers, survey equipment); police promotional exam services; FEMA grant acceptance and purchase of interactive smart boards for the Fire Department; and a training contract with Summa Health to send 14 new fire members through paramedic training. Most of these measures passed by suspension of the rules and unanimous council votes; one ordinance for promotional exams passed 12–0 with one abstention.
