NNDC outlines Make My Move grant opportunity and housing resources for Chadron area

John Reed, speaking for the Northwest Nebraska Development Corporation, told the City of Chadron council that NNDC is pursuing several initiatives to support business growth and workforce recruitment.
Reed said NNDC has active inquiries for its IRP and RBG funds that could fully commit those lines if approved. He described a newly created housing-resources page on NNDC’s website designed to centralize links to housing grants, down-payment assistance and rehab financing. Reed said the goal is to make small and rural employers aware of resources and to connect jobseekers to local openings.
Reed highlighted the Nebraska legislative 'Make My Move' program under consideration (bills L.B. 1152 and H.B. 1114). If funded, the program would provide relocation reimbursement grants for qualifying employees; Reed said cities and economic-development organizations may apply and that qualifying employers could leverage up to $250,000 in reimbursements per applicant entity as structured by the program. He cautioned the bills had not completed the legislative process and said NNDC would present a full briefing if the funding is secured.
Reed also outlined a local-business spotlight series and plans to pursue apprenticeship-support grants to hire staff who would manage employer paperwork for apprenticeship programs.
Council members thanked Reed and asked about business listing and participation in the Make My Move website; Reed said participating businesses would be listed and that NNDC intends to promote members on its web pages and social channels.
