Chadron council awards East 6th Street improvement contract to Infinity Construction

The City of Chadron on Monday voted to award the East 6th Street improvement contract (Cedar Street to Spruce Street) to Infinity Construction of Scottsbluff.
Dustin Glass, the city’s street superintendent, told the council that four bids were received and that two bids were below the engineer’s estimate. Glass said Infinity Construction has completed nearby work with acceptable results according to the city engineer, and that the contractor proposed a start date around the 13th (immediately after the Fur Trade event).
Council members questioned why the concrete pavement item showed a wide price range between bidders; Glass said the variance can reflect differing subcontracting plans or materials. The council approved Resolution 2026-39 by roll call.
The council also discussed pavement type and long-term cost trade-offs: members noted concrete with curb and gutter will be costlier than asphalt but may have different lifecycle benefits. Staff will finalize contract documents and coordinate scheduling with the contractor.
If there are substantial change orders or schedule conflicts, staff will return to the council for further action.
