Residents tell council they are worried about data centers and ongoing sewer backups

Nina Ground said she is conducting an audit of local foundations and alleged corruption and conflicts of interest; she also reported repeated sewer backups in Ward 3 that have flooded basements and damaged property and urged the council to address the problem.
Debbie Rowan said she was motivated to engage after learning more about data centers and expressed concern about possible health effects tied to high-voltage transformers and other infrastructure associated with large data operations. Rowan cited national legislative discussion and said she feared long-term health effects; she asked the council and the cityfs medical adviser to clarify health implications.
Council members acknowledged the concerns and offered to follow up with residents. Staff invited the commenters to provide additional documentation and to meet with city officials outside the meeting to discuss remedy and next steps.
