Warren County receives small grants, staff highlight employer carpooling program and business-retention study

Speaker 7 said Duke Energy awarded the county $5,000 for equipment to help contain lithium-ion battery incidents; funds were approved May 11 and expected to arrive in roughly 30–60 days. Speaker 6 outlined a Purdue PCRD/Lilly program that makes employer carpooling vehicles available to assist employees who lack reliable transportation; Speaker 6 said the program is 100% funded and encouraged employers to apply. Speaker 6 also reported a $5,000 award from Wabash Valley Power Association to support a business retention and expansion study that will include surveys, phone calls and in-person visits.
The commissioners asked staff to report back on implementation details and noted they would share findings after staffers return from planned federal advocacy meetings in Washington, D.C.
