Council approves transfer of Cody Kino Inc. shares; owner emphasizes local continuity

Bill Snodgrass, one of the selling owners, told the council he and partner Mike Hammock want to sell their shares to existing owners Mike Nevervey and Ryan Polabrica and that Marie, who currently manages the business, will remain as manager. "This is about...36 year or so of being involved with [Kino] and the city," Snodgrass said, thanking city staff and officials for cooperative interactions over the years.
Councilman Lucas asked that the item be separated from the consent agenda so the applicants could address the council and said he favored maintaining local ownership. Lucas cited experience in nearby Kearney where, he said, a shift from local ownership to a larger, more urban provider was followed by revenue declines; he presented that as a reason to preserve local ownership in North Platte.
After the discussion, Lucas moved to approve the transfer; the motion was seconded and the council approved item f, the share transfer. No conditions or additional restrictions were recorded in the meeting minutes.
The transfer will be forwarded to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission as part of the licensing process where required; the council materials noted referral or notification to state authorities when applicable.
