RSU 57 board approves expulsions with roadmap for return and accepts administrator CBA

Following three executive sessions called under the applicable sections of Maine law, the RSU 57 board took personnel and discipline actions on April 8.
During a closed session on student matters, a board member moved that the board expel Student A indefinitely with a roadmap for return; the board voted in favor and the motion carried. Later in the evening, after a second executive session on a separate student matter, the board moved to expel Student B indefinitely with a roadmap for return; that motion also carried. The chair said administration will follow up with the students’ families on next steps.
In a third executive session on contract negotiations the board voted to accept the administration’s collective bargaining agreement (CBA) for administrators; the motion was moved and seconded and recorded as carried. The chair asked administrators to sign the legal documents after the meeting.
The board recorded the actions on the public record after returning from executive session: expulsions were approved with roadmaps for return and the administrator CBA was accepted. Administration will communicate next steps to the involved families and sign the required legal documents.
