Pinckney council approves ordinances, policy updates and personnel assignments in unanimous votes

The Village of Pinckney council unanimously approved a package of ordinances, policy changes and staff assignments at its regular meeting on Jan. 12 in Village Council Chambers.
Council adopted a dangerous building ordinance after discussion (motion by Councilmember Hochertz, seconded by Councilmember Coppersmith) and approved Ordinance 180 addressing residential lawn parking and rear-yard vehicle storage (motion by Councilmember Self, seconded by Coppersmith). Both ordinances passed by unanimous roll call votes.
The council also approved an update to the employee credit card policy (motion by Self, seconded by Bierman) and clarified police staff vacation language (motion by Coppersmith, seconded by Bierman). Council moved forward on relocating the community garden to the grassy area behind Village Hall following a presentation by Greg Strine, Mike Szafranski and Martina Fenech (motion by Hochertz, seconded by Bierman); that motion passed unanimously.
Two staff designations were approved: the DPW director was designated as the Act 51 coordinator for state transportation reporting (motion by Coppersmith, seconded by Bierman), and the chief of police was named Special Events Operations Coordinator (motion by Hochertz, seconded by Self). Council also changed Village office hours to Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (motion by Bierman, seconded by Conquest). The consent agenda was approved earlier in the meeting (motion by Bierman, seconded by Kane). Minutes record that all recorded motions passed by unanimous roll call votes.
The meeting record lists Bierman, Conquest, Coppersmith, Hochertz, Kane, Self and Village President J. Buerman as present; Village Clerk A. McCall, DPW Director D. Moma and PPD Chief Garrison were also noted as present. Approximately a dozen members of the public attended. With no further business, the council adjourned at 8:37 p.m.
