The Brooklyn City Board of Education on May 19 approved the meeting agenda and a package of consent resolutions covering the district's finances, contracts and personnel for the 2026–27 school year.
During the meeting Mister Shearhart reported that "the interest for the month of April was $88,245" and that the bond balance stood at $17,757,190, figures the board received as part of the treasurer's consent agenda. The board voted to approve minutes from prior meetings and the financial statements for April 2026.
The superintendent's consent agenda included a final reading of policy 75 40.09, agreements with Total Education Solutions, College Now of Greater Cleveland and Educational Alternatives for the 2026–27 school year, approved off-duty officer rates for the upcoming year, and authorization of addendum No. 2 for professional design services related to corridor ceilings, lighting and door work at Brooklyn High School. The board also approved the graduating class of 2026.
On personnel matters the board approved amended retirement paperwork and multiple personnel actions, including summer student workers, extended school-year services and classified staff employment for 2026–27 as presented in the superintendent's personnel consent agenda.
A motion to approve resolution 7.1 — authorizing specified certified staff to provide extended school-year services, summer enrichment programs and professional development — passed with an abstention recorded for Mister Hubbell; the remaining members voting in favor.
The meeting concluded after the board scheduled a construction and finance update for an early June meeting. No new contracts or spending beyond the items approved on the consent agendas were reported as part of action during this session.
