Pennsauken board approves bulk agenda: contracts, construction payments, and $3.37M bus purchase

In a single motion, the board approved agenda items 2–58, which included Payment Application #13 to Nacom Companies for the PHS Magnet School Addition ($954,456.30), Payment Application #8 for Baldwin Early Childhood Learning Center (Arthur J. Ogren, $628,451.46), and the renewal or award of multiple vendor contracts for services such as substitute teachers and food-service equipment repair. The board’s April bill list and payroll totaled $16,383,020.97, which the Board Secretary certified per N.J.A.C. requirements.
The board also approved the purchase of school buses through the New Jersey cooperative (ESCNJ) under a lump motion: 15 54-passenger IC CE buses and a series of additional midbuses and lift-equipped vehicles, with a combined price of $3,371,060.25 payable from the 2026–2027 budget, contingent on availability of funds and final budget approval.
Other finance actions approved included authorization of final line-item transfers for March 2026 and the routine renewal of food-service and produce contracts, with estimated vendor expenditures supplied in the agenda. The board approved a tuition contract with Camden County Technical Schools for 171 estimated students at $3,211 per student, producing a net total of $712,909.00 after an adjustment related to the 2024–2025 school year.
The board carried the motion to approve the package by voice vote: Motion by Mr. McDevitt, second by Mr. Carey; the motion was recorded as carried with a majority present and one member absent.
The approvals are procedural and executive in nature; the board noted that several purchases and contracts are subject to the availability of budgeted funds in the 2026–2027 fiscal year.
