The Williamsville Central School District said it has been named a Green Ribbon Schools honoree by the New York State Education Department, the Presenter announced.
The Presenter described the recognition as an “incredible accomplishment” and tied it to the district’s strategic plan. The district established a Green Ribbon Schools Committee in 2023 to pursue three pillars: 1) reduce environmental impact and cost (including waste, water and energy use, and alternative transportation); 2) improve health and wellness for students and staff, covering environmental health, nutrition and fitness; and 3) provide effective environmental and sustainability education that engages STEM, civic skills and green career pathways.
The district said it plans to continue and expand this work across its schools as part of broader strategic-plan goals.
The Presenter encouraged the school community’s continued participation in sustainability initiatives and outlined the committee’s focus areas for future work.
