Council accepts clean audit, approves consent calendar items

The Fortuna City Council accepted the city’s fiscal year 2024–25 audit and approved the consent calendar on May 18, 2026.
The finance director reported the recently completed audit resulted in a clean, unmodified opinion with no new findings or deficiencies, which staff said reflects sound internal controls and financial reporting. “We received a clean, unmodified opinion from our auditors,” the finance director said.
The consent calendar included routine minutes and department reports, permits, appointment recommendations, and the city’s basic financial statement for the year ending June 30, 2025. Council moved to adopt items a–k and then pulled item l (the audit) for staff remarks and a separate vote. After hearing from the finance director and brief discussion, the council approved item l by voice vote and completed the consent calendar approvals.
Actions taken were recorded by roll call where specified; the motions to approve the consent items and the audit carried with unanimous support from present council members.
