Hamilton board recognizes students of the month and welcomes three new teachers

Hamilton Community Schools’ board used part of the meeting to honor students of the month and introduce three new teachers the district recently hired.
Teachers and staff presented awards to Phoenix Tomich, Creighton Preston, Derek Myers, McKenna (supported employment), Ian Marvin, Zoe Harmeyer and Nick Hicks, highlighting academic progress, social growth, athletic achievements and workplace maturity. School staff described specific examples—Phoenix assisting a peer at a book fair, McKenna’s supported employment at Goodwill, and improvements in track and mile times for student athletes.
The board also introduced new teachers: Jana Schlosser (incoming first-grade teacher) said she has more than 15 years working with children and looks forward to her first year; Emily Long (incoming kindergarten teacher) said she will bring practices from Portman Community Schools including conscious discipline; and Madison Bellinger described being placed in a kindergarten lesson as part of her hiring process and said she looks forward to joining a smaller school community.
Superintendent and board members encouraged parents and guardians to take pictures during the short recognition and invited new teachers to participate in summer preparation work.
