Hill County commissioners approve consent items, personnel and financial housekeeping

On a motion by Commissioner Scotty Hawkins, seconded by Commissioner Jim Holcomb, the court approved the consent agenda covering minutes from March 24, 2026; invoices from March 31 and April 7, 2026; and payroll for April 2, 2026. All commissioners voted aye.
The court also approved employee wage and status changes (motion by Commissioner Larry Crumpton, seconded by Commissioner Scotty Hawkins); recorded the Huntington/Cadence Bank/Hill County investment policy (motion by Commissioner Martin Lake, seconded by Commissioner Larry Crumpton); and approved county bonds for County Court at Law Judge Matt Crain and for Justice of the Peace, Precinct No. 1 (motion by Commissioner Jim Holcomb, seconded by Commissioner Larry Crumpton). The minutes do not provide the name of the Justice of the Peace whose bond was approved.
Additional approvals included a FirstNet cell phone for the Hill County Treasurer (motion by Commissioner Jim Holcomb, seconded by Commissioner Scotty Hawkins); authorization to disconnect two Verizon phone lines for Precinct No. 2 (motion recorded as made by Commissioner Larry Crumpton and seconded in the minutes by "Commissioner Jim Crumpton"—the clerk’s minutes appear to have a typographical error for the seconder); and budget amendments to cover unbudgeted training for the Hill County Treasurer’s Office. Every recorded motion in the minutes passed with all commissioners voting "Aye." The court adjourned at 9:58 a.m.
