Granite County approves VOCA Victim/Witness Advocate grant application

Granite County commissioners on Feb. 17 approved submission of the 2027–2028 Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant application for the county’s Victim/Witness Advocate Program and authorized signatures to finalize the application.
Pennie Pyle presented the completed application and explained the program is funded by the State Crime Victim Program, covers the advocate’s wages and potentially benefits, and has been funded to the county for roughly 20 years. During public comment, Derek Campbell asked whether accepting the grant would create any county match or ongoing obligations; presenters clarified there is no local match requirement though reporting requirements apply.
Commissioners approved the application and signature authorization unanimously.
