Granite County tightens delinquent solid-waste policy; agrees to short-term lake outflow level

Granite County commissioners on Feb. 17 adopted an update to the Solid Waste policies and procedures (ninth revision to page six, section 6H) clarifying handling of delinquent accounts and approved a short-term river-lake outflow setting based on the dam tender’s weekly report.
The policy revision states that individuals or entities with delinquent solid-waste fees may continue to use services by paying as they go, but accounts frozen after 90 days of delinquency will prevent regular service until the account is brought current; tenants will be notified of account status and the county will publish notice once in the newspaper and on the county website.
Site supervisors for the district reported by email; the board discussed a burn pile at the Philipsburg site after the Philipsburg Volunteer Fire Department directed that no additional material be accepted until the existing pile is burned. Commissioners agreed staff should post notices on the county website and coordinate with the Fire Department to burn the pile as soon as practical.
Separately, the USGS lake-level gauge and dam tender reported Georgetown Lake at 6,428.41 feet (13.08 inches below full pool). Commissioners moved to maintain a 6 cubic-feet-per-second outflow for one week and approved the motion unanimously.
