Highland branch library promotes summer reading program to board
Summary
A Lake County Public Library representative told the board the Highland branch will run a summer reading program June 1–July 31 with prizes and outreach; library cards are free for Highland residents and student cards are available for non-resident students who attend Highland schools.
Heather Castle, speaking from the Highland branch of the Lake County Public Library, asked the board to help spread the word about the library's summer reading program. She said the program runs June 1 through July 31 and that participants earn entries for prizes for each hour read; prizes include items such as a Nintendo Switch Lite and a $200 Visa gift card.
Castle emphasized that reading counted broadly: reading to others and listening to audiobooks both qualify. She also reminded the board that library cards are free for Highland residents and that students who attend Highland schools but do not live in Highland can get student library cards.
Board members thanked Castle and encouraged community participation in the program.
