Hill County commissioners approve consent agenda, budget amendments and interlocal agreement with Hillsboro

At its Feb. 24, 2026 meeting, the Hill County Commissioners Court approved routine financial and procurement actions, a transfer of $13,240.69 between investment accounts, several contracts and agreements including an interlocal with the City of Hillsboro for emergency management services, and the cancellation of a portion of the Pioneers Cove subdivision plat.
County Judge Shane Brassell presided over the Hill County Commissioners Court meeting on Feb. 24, 2026, where the court approved a series of routine but consequential administrative actions, including budget amendments, an account transfer and several intergovernmental agreements.
The court approved the consent agenda — covering invoices, payroll and a monthly revenue and disbursements report — on a motion by Commissioner Scotty Hawkins seconded by Commissioner Jim Holcomb. County Judge Shane Brassell and all commissioners voted in favor.
The court certified a $1,495 donation to Emergency Management for CERT volunteers and approved related budget amendments, and separately approved transferring $13,240.69 plus interest from a Texas Class Government Investment Account into a Texas Class Money Market Investment Account and closing the former account.
The court also authorized advertising for county supply and service contracts effective April 1, 2026, and approved agreements including a communications system agreement allowing Care Flight use of the county radio system and an interlocal agreement with the City of Hillsboro for Emergency Management Coordinator services.
Other actions included approving a purchase over $5,000 for backup radios for the Hill County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center; declaring a 2010 Chevy Tahoe used by Juvenile Probation as surplus and approving its sale through Kaddatz Auction; and designating Kathy Smith as Hill County’s Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) representative.
The court held a public hearing on canceling a portion of the Pioneers Cove subdivision plat (a never-installed road, Linda Lee Xing, adjacent to Lots 31–34 and 36–40). Resident Amy Teal requested more public information prior to the hearing; after the hearing closed the court voted to approve the cancellation.
The court recessed to executive session and reconvened at 10:19 a.m., announcing no action resulted from the executive session. The court then adjourned; minutes were recorded as read and approved March 10, 2026.
