Millis names new PFAS plant and Well 3 for longtime DPW employee Kenneth Alec McCall

The Millis Select Board unanimously voted May 18 to name the new PFAS treatment plant and Well Number 3 in honor of Kenneth Alec McCall, who worked for the town from 1983 until his 2014 retirement.
DPW Director Dave read a nomination and service summary that credited McCall with decades of hands-on work — from snowplowing and school maintenance to operating and mentoring on the town’s waterworks and SCADA systems. "Naming the new PFAS plant and Well 3 in his honor would be a fitting recognition of his years of service and contributions to the town of Millis," the DPW director said while presenting the motion. Select Board members moved, seconded and approved the dedication unanimously.
Honoree Kenneth Alec McCall addressed the board, saying, "Millis is my home and I love it," and thanked colleagues for the recognition. Other residents and colleagues who spoke at the meeting praised McCall’s reliability and service; union representative Scott Fusey called the naming "well deserved." The board indicated a dedication and plaque will be arranged as part of the plant’s opening ceremonies.
The vote is a ceremonial recognition and does not change operational control or responsibilities for the plant. The board said a formal dedication will be scheduled and signage or a plaque placed on site.
