Votes at a glance: Fridley board approves personnel actions, policies and consent agenda

The Fridley Public Schools board recorded several formal actions at its May 19 business meeting, including personnel decisions, policy adoptions and routine consent items.

Personnel: The board approved a resolution to terminate and nonrenew certain non-tenured/probationary teaching contracts for 2025–26. Chair called for a motion; the motion (moved by Anna and seconded by Jones, as recorded) passed on roll-call with the board voting unanimously "aye." No names of the non-tenured staff were read into the record during the motion discussion.

Policy actions: The board voted to adopt Policy 305 (policy implementation) and Policy 306 (school administrator code of ethics) after a second reading and motion by Anna; a voice vote was recorded as passing. The board also approved a first reading and adoption of Policy 722 on public and data-subject requests after a motion by Yang and second by Jones.

Consent agenda: The board approved the consent agenda, which included minutes from a May 5 training-session special meeting, new and amended contracts, leaves of absence, resignations, retirements and terminations, and the statement of insurances for school year 2027 and application for special-education funds. Motion to approve was moved by Anna and seconded by Shriner and carried by voice vote.

Adjournment: The board adjourned the meeting at 8:37 p.m. after a motion and vote to close the session.

What’s next: The next regular board meeting was announced for June 16 with a 5:30 p.m. work session, 7:00 p.m. public comment and a 7:30 p.m. business meeting.
