The Amherst County Board of Supervisors voted May 19 to approve the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) rural‑rustic six‑year plan priority list for 2027–2028.
Daniel Brown of VDOT summarized recent completions (Kent Moore Farm Road and Walnut Springs Road), near-term work (West Monitor) and planned projects (Geddes Mountain and Indian Creek). Brown said crews expect to begin some work after the county’s new fiscal year starts in July and to finish others before winter.
After the presentation the board opened a public hearing, received no opposition and a supervisor moved approval of the priority list. The motion passed on a voice vote.
Board members asked staff to keep smaller projects on the active list so they can be advanced if funding becomes available. The board thanked VDOT for the update; the plan approval allows the county to retain its prioritized list for funding and scheduling consideration by the department.
