The Edinburgh Community School Corp. board approved a proposed amendment to the 2026–27 calendar to add a snow makeup day on March 26, 2027, and discussed a multi‑year calendar planning approach to give families and schools more scheduling certainty.
The superintendent explained coordination with neighboring consolidated districts and said adding built‑in makeup days helps maintain 180 instructional days even if e‑learning days are limited. "If the state allows us to continue e‑learning days and we have used up three days quickly ... the last two would be e‑learning if permitted, or then they would be scheduled as makeup days," the superintendent explained while describing options for calendar alignment.
A trustee moved to add the March 26, 2027 makeup day; the motion passed by voice vote. Administration also proposed bringing a block of calendars for approval in coming months (for school years up to 2030) to give families advance notice of graduation dates and to stay aligned with neighboring districts for shared student populations.
Board members said they appreciated the coordination with Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation for shared C4 students and asked administration to circulate the proposed multi‑year calendar for additional comment before action next month.
