Fire marshal reports 609 inspections, community detector donations and planned recognition for engine company

At the May 19 Norwalk Fire Commission meeting, the fire marshal reported the office completed 609 inspections covering 15,811 units during March and April and conducted 19 investigations (18 fires). The marshal noted fee revenue of $6,905.99 from inspections, fire watch and plan reviews.
The marshal thanked Lowe's for donating 10-year lithium smoke and carbon-monoxide detectors for the department's free evaluation and installation program and said Walmart on Main Street donated a pallet of water to support operations during hot weather. He also highlighted public-education events, school visits and a station tour for an exchange program.
Chief McCabe noted a recent life-saving EMS call and read a letter from the family of the patient; the engine company involved — Lieutenant Christian Drankon, Firefighter Nicholas Marsan, Firefighter Marcus Pritchett and Firefighter Kyrie Fort — will be recognized at Norwalk Hospital.
The fire marshal concluded the report with staff recognitions for personnel who completed state fire marshal certification requirements and invited questions; none were raised.
No regulatory changes or enforcement actions were announced at the meeting.
