District reports show middle school NWEA growth and first year of Reveal Math; Surface Pros, MTSS and TLC highlighted

Middle school leaders reviewed NWEA growth and achievement data across grades and credited differentiated instruction and professional learning communities with measurable gains. The presenters said eighth grade posted roughly 50th percentile growth and about 70th percentile achievement on the NWEA measure; seventh grade growth was about the 62nd percentile with similar achievement figures. Staff said the district used NWEA to identify students below the 40th percentile and targeted those students with small‑group instruction and morning tutoring.
The district also reported technology plans: Surface Pro devices will be placed in middle school classrooms next year to free teachers from fixed stations and to support interactive instruction and recorded lessons that can be linked to Google Classroom.
At Discovery Elementary, staff described MTSS coaching expansion under a grant, the TLC program’s reductions in behavior incidents for supported students, and collaboration with the Little Hornets preschool for smoother early childhood transitions. Discovery teachers piloted Reveal Math this year; the district held ongoing PD and small‑group coaching with Reveal coaches and is using ALEKS for online interventions.
Administrators said next steps include continuing differentiated professional development, expanding morning ELA tutoring, pushing special education teachers into general‑education classrooms for tiered supports, and developing clear AI guidelines and expectations for middle school classrooms.
