County proclaims May as Mental Health Month and highlights Bixby Campus project

The Delaware County Board of Commissioners adopted Resolution 26-343, recognizing May 2026 as Mental Health Month in the county and encouraging residents and organizations to increase awareness and access to care.
Deanna Brandt, executive director of the Delaware County Mental Health Recovery Services Board, told commissioners the national theme "More good days together" was especially apt and described recent local developments: net gains in providers, same-day access and school-based services, grief and loss support, and partnerships that stepped in when providers left. Brandt said the board is pursuing local support to keep services solvent while looking for nonlocal revenue sources to bolster the system.
Commissioners also referenced a planned groundbreaking on the Bixby Campus scheduled for that afternoon; the chair said the facility should open late next year and called it an example of agencies working together to improve services.
