Commissioners approve routine agenda items, plats and drainage petitions; set continuation for one hearing

The Delaware County Board of Commissioners approved a series of routine resolutions during its meeting, including official minutes and records, purchase orders and warrants, multiple drainage maintenance petitions, subdivision plats and several standard permits and contracts.

The board voted in favor of resolutions including 26-338 (approval of the electronic record of proceedings from the May 14 meeting), 26-339 (purchase orders and warrant payments), 26-345 (owner’s agreement for Courtyards at Big Walnut Section 2), 26-346 through 26-348 (drainage maintenance petitions), 26-349 (plans and bid date for the Chancel Gate watershed drainage project), 26-350 (utility permits), 26-351 (multiple subdivision plats) and 26-353 (child placement service contract renewals and amendments). Most motions were moved, seconded and passed by voice vote. Commissioners Jeff Benton and Gary Merrill recorded affirmative votes.

The meeting also included ceremonial and personnel items: Resolution 26-341 recognized former commissioner Merlin “Boots” Sheets for his long service to the county; Resolution 26-342 authorized the sale of specified personal property to retiring Deputy Fred Strauser and included remarks about his decades as a school resource officer. Resolution 26-343 proclaimed May 2026 as Mental Health Month in Delaware County.

One notable scheduling action: after opening the Watson Ford No. 25 drainage improvement hearing, the board adopted Resolution 26-354 to continue the final public hearing to Monday, Aug. 3, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. so a property owner could arrange representation.

The board’s approvals advance several local development and infrastructure projects and set next steps where bids or hearings are required.
