By unanimous vote Feb. 10, Kings Mountain City Council adopted its consent agenda, which included approving minutes from Dec. 9 and Dec. 11, 2025, adopting Ordinance 26-06 to amend the Code of Ordinances (removing section “(5) Penalty”), and several advisory board appointments.
Council appointed Sherra Dunn to the Patrick Senior Center Advisory Board (term expiring June 30, 2027), Ke’Shawn Strong to a Ward 3 seat on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (term expiring Dec. 31, 2026), and Alexander King to an initial term on the ABC Board (term expiring Jan. 31, 2029). Ben Torres was reappointed for a full term on the ABC Board (term expiring Jan. 31, 2029). Councilmember Jay Rhodes moved adoption of the consent agenda and Councilmember Jimmy West seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
The minutes include a reference to Ordinance 26-06 as an amendment to eliminate a penalty subsection from an otherwise unspecified code section; the minutes do not provide the code chapter or further detail about the practical effect of removing the penalty subsection.
