Pelican Rapids board approves consent agenda, accepts donations and signs off on graduation list

The Pelican Rapids Public Schools board approved consent items, accepted several donations by resolution and ratified the high-school graduation list during its May meeting.

Clerk read the consent agenda, which included the minutes from the April 20, 2026 regular meeting, April financial claims and a roster of personnel actions. The personnel items acknowledged resignations (including Heidi Moe and Andrea Hart) and approved hires including Alex Diaz (Spanish/ELL and head boys soccer coach), Emily Diaz (special education teacher), Julie Jones (full-time evening custodian), Aaron Tallerud (long-term elementary substitute) and Bo Kirkwood (head girls basketball coach). A slate of summer workers and summer-school staffing were also approved. Trustee Stacy moved the consent agenda and it passed by voice vote.

On business item A, the board considered a resolution accepting donations. The resolution cited Minnesota Statute 123B.02, subd. 6 and Minnesota Statute 465.03 as the legal authority for accepting gifts and grants. Listed donations included $80 from Laura Klimek to student accounts; a $1,500 gift from Pelican Dental for the Viking Boutique; $100 from Central Evangelical Church WELCA to the PRHS scholarship fund; $225 from retirement advisory services for the Celebration of Cultures; and $400 from Brett Fraser for music scholarships. The board approved the resolution by roll call (members recorded as voting yes: Andrew, Brenda, Caroline, Chris and Stacy).

On business item C, trustees approved the 2026 high-school graduation list for 59 seniors and scheduled graduation for the coming Friday; board members were asked to arrive early for ceremony duties.

The meeting concluded with announcements about the June 17 board meeting at 7 a.m. and adjournment by voice vote.
