Lockport board approves $15.9M bond, three-year support-staff contract and a Cedar Road easement

At its May 20 meeting, the Lockport Township High School District 205 board approved several major fiscal and property actions, including a bond-authorizing resolution, a three-year support-staff contract and a property easement sale.

Finance staff presented the April 30 treasurer's report, explaining that April is typically the district's lowest cash point and noting roughly eight months of operating cash on hand. The presenter said tax collections expected in May should restore balances and described short-term investment practices with district financial advisors.

On action items, the board approved a resolution to issue not-to-exceed $15,900,000 general obligation school bonds (Series 2026). The bonds will fund alterations and reconstruction of school buildings and purchases for fire prevention, safety, energy conservation and security improvements; the motion passed by roll call.

The board also approved the educational support staff collective bargaining agreement covering July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029.

In a separate property action, the board approved a request to convey a narrow permanent strip of land to the village of Homer Glen for road and drainage purposes, with a stated fair-market payment of $10,000 and an accompanying temporary construction easement for installation of drainage infrastructure. District representatives explained the strip was technically owned to the road center and that dedicating it back to the village aligns ownership with current practice and facilitates sanitary connections.

All measures passed by roll call votes during the meeting. Board members thanked administrators and staff for preparing materials and for meeting briefings that preceded the votes.
