The San Antonio Building Standards Board unanimously ordered demolition of the structure at 329 South San Gabriel on Aug. 14, 2025, after staff described extensive structural failure and unsafe conditions.
Dangerous‑premises officer Jaime Hasso presented multiple photos showing roof collapse, missing foundation sections, exposed and failing floor joists, and areas where the wall and roof decking had collapsed and created open holes. Staff reported no active services on the property and no permits, and said the property is not eligible for historic designation.
Carolina Lara, speaking for owner Denise Lara, asked for more time to transfer title and pull a demolition permit so the family could handle the demolition themselves; the board discussed limits on resetting a case and timelines for title work but ultimately moved forward. Board member Kayla Miranda moved that the property be declared a public nuisance under City Code Article 8, Chapter 6 and ordered demolition within 30 days; the motion passed 5–0.
Staff noted owners can still pull demolition permits and perform the demolition before the city’s contractor acts, but absent that, the city will follow its processes to secure and, if necessary, abate the property.
