The board pressed for how parents and community members are invited to participate in extracurricular planning and whether administrative regulations or handbooks implement operational rules. Administration described a process where students typically propose clubs through building administration and student handbook procedures; parents or community groups would approach building administrators or the high school administration for review before coming to the board agenda for approval.
On academic eligibility, the athletic director emphasized the district standard: "we changed that rule" four years ago to require students to be passing all classes rather than allowing a limited number of failures. He said the district runs eligibility reports on Monday and enforces ineligibility until the student is passing. The committee also confirmed the district organizes free physicals for student athletes (May 27) and that off-campus conduct expectations are enforced via the student handbook and coach discretion.
No formal votes were taken during committee review; administration will refine citations and return the policy for follow-up readings.
