The Fremont County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a set of land‑use changes on May 12 that will convert parts of two subdivisions back to agricultural use and add acreage to neighboring lots.
Planning Director Steve Baumann told commissioners the board was asked to vacate the View Point Ranchettes Subdivision to allow two landowners to convert their property back to agricultural status and to facilitate lot line adjustments that provide year‑round water access. The board approved the vacation, with Jennifer Wilson moving and Clarence Thomas seconding.
Baumann also presented a partial vacation of Lot 5 in the Wyopo Second Subdivision that would add a 32–38‑inch strip of land along the western side of Lots 1 and 5, and a related re‑subdivision to increase acreage of Lots 1 and 5. Commissioners approved the partial vacation and the re‑subdivision (motions moved and seconded; all votes recorded as unanimous).
The planning director described the changes as necessary to consolidate acreage and ensure access but did not specify easement details or whether state approvals would be required. The board’s action was procedural: it authorized the vacations and reconfiguration and will follow any recording or permitting steps required under county code.
The approved reconfiguration will change parcel boundaries for the affected properties and permit the owners to adjust lot lines to meet water‑access needs. No appeal, bond, or related fiscal impacts were reported at the meeting.
The county will publish formal documents and record the subdivision vacations and re‑subdivision as part of the land records. The planning department will provide follow‑up details if and when permits or recording steps are completed.
