Committee recommends Select Board convey Parcel 15 to 110 Surfside; vote recorded with one recusal

The Town of Nantucket Real Estate Assessment Committee voted May 18 to recommend that the Select Board convey Parcel 15 to the owners of 110 Surfside.
Tracy, the town staff member overseeing conveyances, described the parcel as a straightforward conveyance intended to clean up a paper road segment that abuts 110 Surfside. She noted the GIS mapping in that area is imperfect and that, if an adjacent owner at 108 were to decline acquisition, the town could reserve a driveway easement to protect the neighbor's access.
"I would need a positive recommendation for the select board to convey Parcel 15 to the owners of 110 Surfside Road," Tracy said during the staff presentation. A committee member moved the recommendation, it was seconded, and the committee approved the motion by roll call. The recorded votes were: Lee Saperstein (aye), Thomas Bridal (aye), Nat Lowell (aye), Chair John Brecher (aye); Jesse Bell said, "I'm recused on this." The committee therefore forwarded the recommendation to the Select Board with one recusal.
Committee members also discussed price-factor calculations for conveyances and confirmed that the town would reserve any necessary easements for neighboring driveways if the neighboring owner declined to acquire the strip. The conveyance will next be considered by the Select Board, per the committee's recommendation.
