Dr. Gibbs presented the human resources folder for board consideration, highlighting forthcoming retirements and administrative appointments.
He said Dr. Amy DeLuca has announced her pending retirement as director of student services, effective Sept. 1, and the board will appoint Dan Schwager (the transcript later spells the name “Slager”) as principal of North Allegheny Intermediate. Dr. Gibbs also noted that Dr. Dahl has agreed to extend her term as assistant superintendent for elementary education for five years.
The HR report included additional routine items such as resignations and retirements, other appointments, wage and status changes, supplemental contracts, a memorandum of understanding between the district and the paraprofessional chapter of the North Allegheny Federation of Teachers, leaves of absence, and an insurance renewal with UPMC WorkPartners. Board members spoke briefly to praise Dr. DeLuca’s service; no formal votes occurred at the May 6 meeting.
