Residents urge support for deputies and introduce solar-funded rail idea at Adams County meeting

Dave Ruble, a founding member of ST Holdings, introduced a private concept to fund rail projects by aggregating revenue from household solar installations. Ruble described three corridors his company is pursuing, including a local route from Thornton to Denver International Airport along E‑470, and said the company plans to use hydrogen-powered railcars and elevated magnetic levitation technology on some alignments. Ruble said the model does not ask for public money but seeks dialogue and permission to present formally to the board at a later date.
Robin Handy of Sherrelwood spoke in recognition of Police Week in support of Adams County deputies, citing her view that law enforcement work is dangerous and urging the county to consider ways to make deputies’ jobs safer and increase staffing levels. Handy offered national estimates on officer injuries and shootings (her stated figures were speaker estimates and not cited to an external source in the hearing) and asked county leaders to pursue measures to improve training and safety.
Commissioners thanked both speakers, encouraged follow-up with county staff for the rail proposal, and expressed appreciation for deputies and the service they provide.
