Ronnie Medina presented final contract draft materials and said the project’s original estimate of just over $1 million has been reduced to approximately $752,000 by using in-house Road & Bridge work; staff also identified a 7% contingency, roughly $50,000. Commissioner Lori Laske asked whether reserve funds would fully cover the work; Administrator Roni Wisdom said funds had been set aside and the county has sufficient fund balance to make the project work.
Chair Vern Heersink and staff discussed detour impacts and traffic control; Medina said larger signage and extra precautions would be used to mitigate safety risks. The board authorized release of the RFP so that bids can be solicited and a contractor selected; the motion passed unanimously.
The minutes note subsequent action items: releasing the RFP and bringing contract award recommendations back to the board for final approval. No contract award was recorded in the March 25 minutes.
