Clarkston planning commission recommends two small-business licenses to town council

The Clarkston Town Planning Commission on May 2026 voted to recommend town-council approval for two small-business license applications: Allied Drafting & Design and a mobile food trailer called Risky Biscuit.

Allied Drafting & Design applicant Dustin told the commission he will operate the drafting business alone from his Center Street residence, visiting clients’ properties or working online, and that the operation will not add employees, parking demand or significant water use. “I got a degree in drafting from Bridgewood. I’m trying to get a job... so I’m just gonna start my own drafting company,” Dustin said.

Chair said the commission would forward a recommendation to the town council for final approval. The motion to recommend Allied Drafting & Design passed on a voice vote by the commission.

Separately, an applicant introduced as Jason described Risky Biscuit as a mobile breakfast trailer operating regionally and based out of a commissary kitchen in Logan. He said the trailer may be stored occasionally at his Center Street home while he focuses on events and local outreach. Commissioner (S4) moved to recommend approval and the commission approved the recommendation by voice vote. The commission invited the vendor to participate in the town’s Point Express event on June 27.

Why it matters: Town council action is required for final licensing. The planning commission’s recommendations clear the way for those applications to be scheduled at the council meeting next week and allow applicants to pursue permits or events contingent on council approval.

What’s next: The planning commission will present both recommendations to the Clarkston Town Council at its next meeting; applicants were told they do not need to attend unless the council requests them.
