The superintendent summarized the community engagement to date: Phase 1 yielded 68 open‑ended responses and Phase 2 produced 602 responses to draft language. Board members were asked to review the packet and suggested the board solicit further feedback — both electronically and through targeted outreach by social workers and outreach staff — to ensure participation from traditionally marginalized communities.
Board members pressed for more measurable language in some goals, advising that objective targets (for example, comparisons to peer districts or top‑decile aims) may help prioritize resources. One member suggested outreach to families who choose charter or private options to learn why they opt out of Richfield Schools.
Administrators said the draft will be sent to the community for further comment and that the board aims to consider the plan for final approval on Aug. 3. No formal vote was taken tonight; the board was asked to provide feedback ahead of the planned public comment period and additional summer outreach.
