Sheriff reports felony-evasion arrest, museum vandalism and uptick in animal bites

At the council meeting the town nd public-safety officer reported a recent felony-evasion incident pursued by state troopers that moved through town; the officer said the suspect was ultimately caught.
"We had a felony evasion... they did catch him," the officer said, recounting the incident and noting the department provided agency assist while the troopers led the pursuit. The sheriff also said overall call numbers were similar to recent reports but that medical calls and animal-bite incidents rose slightly.
Council members raised concerns about repeated vandalism at the local museum, describing a door that has been knocked off several times. One council member said the mayor had discussed possible repairs and that staff were exploring options. "We've talked about maybe some cameras, if anybody has one they could loan us to put up there," a council member said.
Staff said they would follow up on camera and security options and continue extra patrols around problem areas. The council did not take a formal vote on additional security expenditures at the meeting.
The council also discussed community observations of suspicious nighttime activity at the boat ramp and the need for continued patrols. Staff will follow up with the mayor and investigators as they gather additional details.
