Tempe proclaims Experience Corps anniversary and urges residents to take 2026 community survey

Mayor Corey Woods presented a proclamation declaring May 4, 2026, as the Tempe Experience Corps 20th anniversary, thanking volunteers and partners for supporting early literacy. The mayor noted that partnerships with AARP, Tempe Elementary and Kyrene School Districts and families have served more than 5,700 students and cited roughly 450 volunteers historically and about 130 volunteers serving 400 students at 16 schools this school year.
Woods also asked residents to participate in the City of Tempe’s 2026 community survey, which is scheduled to be mailed beginning June 1 and will remain open through Aug. 1; residents may return surveys by mail using postage-paid envelopes or complete them online at tempe.gov/surveys or via a QR code on the printed survey. He said survey results help guide council decisions on public safety, parks and recreation, economic development, code enforcement and other services.
The mayor invited representatives of the Experience Corps to accept the proclamation; councilmembers thanked the volunteers and students for their service.
