Board committee approves bid awards, software renewals and dual-credit agreements

The board agreed to a three-year extension with EvaluWise for $23,505.90 to be paid from local funds. A one-year renewal with Edgenuity for student licenses was approved at $9,192.75 (local funds), reflecting a reduced number of seats due to decreased student usage.
The committee recommended awarding the HHS stadium lighting bid to Barton Electric Inc. for $166,870; the district noted Barton’s bid was approximately $80,000 lower than a competing bidder (Helm), the LED system carries a 10-year warranty and the vendor will assist with rebate paperwork. The project includes a $50,000 state matching grant.
The committee approved a three-year agreement with CommonLit for high school ELA curriculum at $18,900 (local funds) and approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Rock Valley College for dual and articulated credit courses; the high school expressed interest in adding McHenry College as a partner for the construction program.
An Intergovernmental Agreement with Rock Valley College for the Running Start Program was approved by consensus with a recommended increase in the program maximum from 17 to 20 students.
Assistant Superintendent Josh Aurand also introduced a pending state bill that would allow support staff to claim unemployment even if they receive a paycheck during the summer, which could begin June 1; Chair Mike Sterling expressed concern about potential unfunded mandates and the financial implications for the district if the bill passes.
