Students, art winners and scholarship honorees recognized at Whitehall Copley meeting

The board recognized outgoing student council representative Maya Williamson, incoming president Hope Warren, art-show winners across grade levels, senior photography projects and National Merit Scholarship winner Vihan Sinha; the district also announced Kutztown Early College acceptances and a $10,000 LVECU donation.
The Whitehall Copley School District used part of its May 18 meeting to spotlight student achievements and community support.
Senior Maya Williamson thanked the board for the opportunity to represent the student body as she prepares to attend Moravian University. Incoming student-council president Hope Warren introduced herself and said she looks forward to working with faculty and the board.
K–12 art teachers and department leaders presented the district’s first combined K–12 art show, described a QR-based parent voting process used at Family Night and named winners from each building. Senior Caroline Schmoyer presented work from a Photography II independent-study class and credited teachers and the photography club for mentoring and exhibition opportunities.
Superintendent Dr. Mays recognized senior Vihan Sinha as a National Merit Scholar and announced five juniors accepted to Kutztown University’s Early College Academy, which will allow the students to earn 12 college credits during their senior year. The district also thanked the Lehigh Valley Educators Credit Union for a $10,000 donation to support the snack-pack program and a community closet.
School leaders noted numerous end-of-year events, final assessments, and an upcoming graduation schedule (Class of 2027 commencement June 2 with inclement date June 3).
