Clinton County approves summer 10-hour highway schedule, accepts routine facility contracts

County Highway Superintendent Rick Campbell provided an update on recent projects, including dust-control work, sandblasting and painting of bridge structures, and upcoming bridge demo. Campbell asked commissioners to approve a summer schedule of 10-hour days (06:30'to'17:00), Monday through Thursday, from Memorial Day through Labor Day, with Fridays off except for holidays. Commissioners approved the schedule by a 3-0 vote.
Campbell said a new driver, Micah Parmerly, was taking a driving test and would join county crews to help cover an upcoming retirement.
The board also approved several routine contracts and quotes: consolidation of pest control services with Reliable Extermination at an annual cost of $4,420, selection of Lucas Fire and Safety for annex fire-sprinkler and backflow inspection at $2,048, and renewal of a two-year professional community economic development service agreement with the North Central Indiana Regional Planning Council (cost of $0.77 per person split with the City of Frankfort). All motions passed 3-0.
Commissioners asked staff to coordinate start dates and procurement paperwork and to forward vendor details to the appropriate departments.
