South Lyon honors Lori Atishak as district and county support person of the year

The South Lyon Community Schools board honored Lori Atishak on Tuesday as the district's support person of the year and noted she also won recognition at the county level.
Principal Sue Morris introduced Atishak and described years of volunteer service at Sayre Elementary, including leadership roles in PTO fundraising, organizing holiday drives, serving as a substitute teacher, and stepping in for staff during medical absences. "When children can't have the comfort of their mother when they are sick or they are scared, they seek out Lori," Morris said, describing Atishak's impact on students and families.
Dandridge Floyd, assistant superintendent of human resources at Oakland Schools, said the county selection involved more than 40 applicants and several rounds of interviews; he cited Atishak's daily compassion and community service as reasons she rose to the top.
Atishak briefly addressed the board, saying she was "extremely lucky" to do the work and praised colleagues and the principal for support. Trustees offered congratulations, and the board recognized the larger slate of district achievements that opened the meeting.
No board action was required; the presentation was ceremonial recognition of staff and community contributions.
